Light Folds Through the Hills
Mixed Media on Canvas
1200 × 900 mm
Having graduated from Elam Art School in 1996 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, Greer Clayton went on to travel extensively, successfully exhibiting work while based in Sydney, London, and Scotland. A return to New Zealand saw her settle in Auckland where she extended her practice to include interiors, earning her Diploma of Interior Design in 2015.
Greer continues a joyful engagement with our natural environment. Glazing with pearlised colour washes in mixed media acrylic, she inquires into subtle variations of colour, light and form. The result is a stunning range of atmospheric landscape-based paintings. The artist alludes to certain areas without being bound to a correct topographical representation. In this way she can freely respond to an experience of place once she has returned to her studio.
