Parnell Gallery became a bona fide ‘family business’ when Sally’s daughter Anna joined her at the gallery in 2011 after six years living and working in London. Specialising in project management and coordinating corporate events, both of which stood her in good stead in her initial role as Gallery Manager and more recently as a Director and joint owner. As Sally says, “Anna was bought up ‘behind the counter’ surrounded by art and could not help but be drawn to running the gallery as, having worked part time there through her school years, she had developed a keen appetite for art and loved the buzz engendered by the milieu of artists and their exhibitions.”
Parnell Gallery has been curating monthly exhibitions in their upstairs gallery for many years now, which are eagerly anticipated by the art community of Auckland and beyond. Parnell Gallery has a close and loyal following as connoisseurs appreciate they will always discover exciting works of distinctive quality at these exhibitions, in addition to the constantly changing selection on display in the lower gallery.
