We’re delighted to welcome Runa and Holly to the gallery, the creative partnership between Icelandic photographer Runa Kuru and New Zealand floral artist Holly Tong.

Their collaboration is a poetic dialogue between two artistic languages, where photography and floristry merge to create imagery that feels both timeless and alive. Each work captures nature at its most fleeting, transforming flowers, foliage, and light into painterly compositions rich with tone, texture, and emotion.

Runa’s background in portrait photography brings a quiet sensitivity and emotional depth, while Holly’s intuitive approach to floral design adds an elemental connection to the natural world. Composed entirely in natural light, with florals sourced from local growers, Holly’s garden, and the surrounding landscape, their works celebrate the delicate balance between strength and fragility.

Since beginning their collaboration in 2017, Runa and Holly have exhibited across New Zealand and Australia, including The NZ Art Show and The Other Art Fair in Melbourne. Their collection, Volucris, was selected for exhibition at the prestigious Arte Laguna Prize in Venice, Italy.

Now based in Gisborne, the pair continue to explore the boundless possibilities of light, form, and nature in their ongoing creative journey.
