Nina van Dijk
Nina was born in Veghel, the Netherlands in 1963. She developed an interest in art making while studing at Teacher Training College and went on to take a course in Fine Arts.
In 1985 she came to New Zealand for a working holiday and decided to stay and pursue a career as a sculptor. Currently residing in Wellington, Nina works as a full-time artist from her home studio.
Nina has been sculpting for over twenty years and in her practice she recreates the essence of human relationships – emotion and interaction. Frequently Nina draws inspiration from forms found in nature, reflected in the organic qualities inherent in much of her work. The Parnell Gallery has represented Nina since the late 1990’s. She also has work exhibited in galleries in Wellington and Christchurch. Nina’s sculptures are in private collections in Australia, UK, USA, Hong Kong and New Zealand.
