Matt Payne

30 May - 13 June

Through his latest body of paintings, Matt Payne invites us into the delicate and dramatic features of our vast and varied coastlines, emphasising the elements to bring those details to the forefront of our minds. The glistening seas and silken sands of Ōhope and Hahei, or the rugged rocks of Langs, rendered with such astonishing and transportive accuracy.

Not merely imitating nature, Payne’s painterly fragments coalesce to form representations of particular moments in time, evoking a potent sense of the textures and mysteries of the natural landscape.
