Acquiring artwork from a gallery exhibition need not be complex.

Below, we clarify several aspects of the process and outline the opportunities available to those interested in viewing or purchasing works from our exhibitions.

When can you purchase exhibition works?

Artworks in our exhibitions are available to acquire from the moment they are released via our online preview, typically two weeks prior to the physical opening. This preview is made available to our mailing list subscribers, with priority access extended to those who have expressed a specific interest in the exhibiting artist.

If you wish to follow an artist’s practice or be notified of new works, we encourage you to contact the gallery. By sharing your preferences – such as medium, scale, colour palette, or previous works of interest – we can ensure you receive tailored updates and priority access ahead of upcoming exhibitions and new releases

Exhibition Openings: Who Attends and What to Expect

Our exhibition openings are casual, fun and genuinely open to all. No invitation or RSVP is required though we do extend invitations to those on our exhibition database or follow us on social media.

These evenings are often referred to as ‘preview’ events, offering a first opportunity to view the full body of work in person before the exhibition formally opens. In terms of dress, you will not feel out of place in smart-casual attire.

Openings are celebratory occasions – an opportunity for the artist to share the exhibition with friends, family, and supporters, and to see the works presented together in a single space. While many guests attend with the intention to acquire, just as many are present to engage with the work or support the artist. All are equally welcome.

Children are also welcome at our openings. We value a multigenerational appreciation of the arts, and younger visitors often bring fresh, insightful perspectives.

Payment Options

We offer a number of flexible payment solutions to make acquiring art more accessible:

  • Deposit and Layby: Secure a work with a deposit, with the balance payable over a structured layby arrangement or prior to collection.
  • MyArt: Interest-free loans are available through MyArt for approved applicants. This allows for manageable, monthly payments over time while the artwork is yours to enjoy from day one.
  • Bank Transfer or Credit Card: We accept both bank transfer and major credit cards. Please note a surcharge applies for credit card payments.

All works remain on exhibition until the end of the exhibition period, unless alternative arrangements are made.

Viewing and Acquiring Works Remotely

If you are unable to attend the exhibition in person, our team is available to assist remotely. We offer:

  • Video walkthroughs and detailed imagery
  • Scaled renders of artworks placed in photographs of your space
  • Private viewings prior to opening by appointment

The one that got away:  What to do if an artwork you are interested in has already sold.

If the artwork you had your heart set on has sold, don’t be disheartened. There may be available works in a similar vein that we can suggest. If you’re interested in acquiring a piece by a particular artist and have preferences around style, composition, scale, or colour palette, let us know – we can add you to that artist’s email list so you’ll be among the first to hear when new works are released.

Another wonderful option is commissioning a piece. While an artist won’t recreate an original work, many are delighted to create something that captures the essence of the one that got away. For more about how the commission process works, take a look here: Commissions with Parnell Gallery
