Artist Bio
“I do my bit to introduce a wider audience to some of what makes New Zealand so inspiring.” – Brian Moore
Brian Moore was a New Zealand sculptor and painter whose work was deeply rooted in the land, wildlife, and cultural identity of Aotearoa. Throughout a career spanning several decades, Moore remained dedicated to capturing the majesty and character of Aotearoa’s natural world, an artistic commitment that was sparked in his early childhood and sustained throughout his life.
Among the most celebrated examples of this work are his Kiwi and Tuatara bronzes. These sculptures exemplify the artist’s almost obsessive pursuit of detail: each scale, feather and characteristic is rendered with astonishing precision, revealing hours of close observation and skilled modelling. Moore’s works in bronze occupy a unique position between natural history study and fine art object, inviting viewers to encounter these iconic creatures at an intimate, tactile scale.
