‘Rhythm of Time’ reflects an ongoing enquiry into our relationship with time, its passage, weight, and potential for presence. Comprising a darkened base, figure, and pendulum in contrasting patinas, this piece in bronze invites a contemplative encounter with the temporal frameworks that structure our lives. The circle, symbolic of the clock and the cosmos, encapsulates time’s cyclical and continuous nature, while the pendulum gestures toward the inevitable rhythm that governs it. And yet, within this motion, the work seeks a still point: a space of rest, however brief, where consciousness might catch up with time’s unfolding.
This sculpture, conceived with my children in mind, is, at its core, an offering, an articulation of the idea that how we choose to spend our time matters. It asks what it means to be truly present, to inhabit each moment with intention amidst a culture increasingly marked by acceleration and fragmentation.
As human beings, internal and external rhythms govern us, and in this piece, I explore the tension between agency and inevitability. Can we hold time, if only for a second? This work does not seek to answer such questions definitively but to hold them, poised, within the arc of its movement.
